Old Enough To Be His Mother

by Deanna Ashford

What is it about young men I like so much? Is it the taut lithe physique, the smooth skin, the sparkling eyes or that assured arrogance of youth? The thought of those firm young thighs, their ability for sexual endurance. Mind you it doesn’t happen all the time but sometimes I see a young guy and I think Wow! The sexual surge is powerful, there’s no doubt about that, but there is a small wee voice in my head saying “but you are old enough to be his mum!” (Maybe a very young mum, I hasten to add, I don’t like to think I’m that old yet.) Then the devil on my other shoulder says “what the hell, he is so, so tasty.”

It seems a long, long time since I celebrated my seventeenth birthday but I can definitely remember at the time I really only fancied older guys. I thought that young men of my age were a little crass and immature, and to go out with someone older was considered the height of sophistication. Even when I reached my twenties I still preferred older guys. Maybe I was a tad materialistic because I definitely preferred my boyfriends to be older, more sophisticated and to of course have a decent job, a car and all the other necessary accoutrements which made dating them even more enjoyable. On reflection I suppose it is as sort of basic survival instinct being attracted to males who are bigger, stronger and obviously more important.

But as I’ve grown older I have found that my outlook has been turned totally upside down. Who cares if they don't have any money: marriage and settling down with them is not on my agenda – it is beauty and sexual charisma I am after. I’m definitely attracted to younger men and oddly enough the older I get the younger the men I fancy seem to become. There is a limit of course beneath which no sane person would stray but fortunately I haven’t reached it just yet.

Should this bother me? Goodness no! Where’s the fun in that?

After all society has always made it acceptable for young women to be attracted to much older men. Centuries ago young girls in their early teens were forced to marry men way older than themselves, sometimes old enough to be their grandfathers and no one saw anything wrong with that. Even today trophy wives aren’t exactly frowned upon. Look at Hugh Heffner, he is 81 years old and yet he has three girlfriends - all young blonde bimbos in their early twenties. And he claims that he sleeps with them all. Perhaps sleep is the operative word here, most 81 year olds I know drop off at a moments notice!

Yet when Demi Moore, who is now 45, married Aston Kutcher a young man 15 years younger everyone was surprised and a little shocked. In essence she was just about old enough to be his mother. Then there is Joan Collins whose husband, Percy, is 32 years younger than her.

I wrote of an encounter between a younger man and an older woman in my book Doctor’s Orders.

Colin is a nurse in his early thirties and Zara is a well know actress a good 15 years older than him.

Zara’s skin was a pale ivory and blemish free, while her body was just perfect: curvy, not stick thin like most of the actresses Colin had come across since working here. She looked more like a thirty year old than a woman fast approaching fifty.

Colin tried not to think of her in a sexual way, but he found it far from easy, as he poured the sweet smelling oil on her back and started to massage her with long, smooth strokes.

‘That feels nice.’ Zara pillowed her head on her folded arms.

‘Relax, think of nothing,’ Colin said, so very conscious that he was touching a woman he had adored for years. A hungry ache of longing formed deep in the pit of his belly, and no matter how hard he tried, it couldn’t be totally ignored. Her full breasts were compressed by her weight, and they spilled enticingly out of the sides of her body. As Colin slid his hands up the sides of her back, his fingers brushed the soft curves. He wanted to roll her over, cup them in his hands and cover them with gentle kisses. His heartbeat quickened at the thought as life blood flooded his groin. His cock hardened – God, how he wanted this woman.

Zara's bottom was was pert and tight, with no sign of softness or dimpling - a testament to the time she spent working out in the gym. Colin dug his fingers into her gluteus muscles, kneading and squeezing. The movements pulled apart the cheeks of her buttocks and he caught a glimpse of her rosy brown anus. Aroused by the delicious sight, he tried hard to concentrate on the massage, sliding his hands lower to stroke her legs.

She gave a soft appreciative sigh and her legs rolled open just a little. Colin's fingers, slick with oil, slid between her thighs, just brushing her dark blonde curl. He felt her shiver and was so tempted to proceed further; to mesh his fingers in the silky pelt, dip them inside the lips of her sex and seek out the throbbing heat of her quim.

I have friends who taken a fancy to one of their son’s young friends and felt mortified that they feel that way. Fortunately that hasn’t happened to me yet, I’m happy to ignore the young men coming to my door and traipsing up to my son’s room, all dressed the same in baggy jeans and tattered ‘T’ shirts. It seems to me that it is far easier, and probably far safer, to lust after a young guy who is totally unreachable.

In the past I’ve always gone for muscular men, the prime example being Sawyer from Lost, who is the perfect on-screen bad boy. His sultry glances and arrogant attitude make you wonder just how good he’d be in bed. Spectacular I’d guess if his wicked smiles are anything to go by. He’s bad, so very bad, and that makes him far more attractive than good doctor Jack. Nevertheless, there is no way I could class Sawyer in the ‘old enough to be his mother’ category. He’s 38 and way to old, but he is still gorgeous enough for a mention (This is my post!)

It is the sweeter, younger flesh, I’m attracted to like the erstwhile elf Orlando Bloom. Thousands of females fell for the cool blonde innocence of Legolas wondering what it would be like to bed such an enigmatic creature. Then we saw the real Orlando (well I like to think so) as our passions were revived by the sexy dark haired young man who became a pirate to rescue the girl he loved. Will Turner, sword in hand, battling the evils of Barbossa and the Kraken. How many of us have imagined a threesome sandwiched between Jonny Depp and Orlando Bloom!

Portia Da Costa also admits to fancying a young man. I quote “Professor Charles Eppes as played by David Krumholtz in Numbers. He’s beautiful, quirky and a genius beyond his years. He’s young enough to be my son but my feelings are far from maternal!

Since my interest in Orlando I confess I’ve slid backwards a few years when I noticed an up and coming twenty-six year old on my TV screen. I now have a passion for an amazing young man who looks and sings like an angel. His handsome face, his dark chocolate brown curls, blue/green eyes and sweet unassuming manner have turned my legs to water every time I’ve seen or spoken to him. Yet these feelings are mine alone and not to be shared by others. That’s the pleasure of it I think - these useless but, oh so delicious, lustful feelings about a young man who definitely is young enough to be my son.

Mmm.... Professor Hottie McHotstuff... I think I've just had a hot flush and it's nothing to do with my age!

What a smashing post, Deanna, and what a gorgeous bunch of hunky and interesting young men. I really enjoyed your excerpt too. I'm ashamed to say that I haven't read Doctor's Orders, but I'm certainly going to! I did the older woman/younger man thing in Suite Seventeen and it's a fun dynamic to explore.

Hope you get to meet your dreamboat young guy from the telly again soon! :)

Oh my God, I am so with you. I think it ha s a certain amount to do with wanting to be 17 again, but there is no denying hte beauty of young men - it's so sad that it fades the way it does.

Have you read Germaine Greer's book all about this subject? Young men's beauty as recorded in art. It made me feel very validated! There's an interesting bit on an ancient classification of all the different stages of youth, from chubby cuteness through to stubbley sinewiness.

Thanks Portia, hopefully I will.

Surprisingly he turned out to be even more gorgeous and charming in the flesh - isn't that great?

I've just about to start reading Suite Seventeen now, and I'm looking forward to it immensely.

No jothemama I haven't read the Germain Greer book but I'll certainly do so....chubby cuteness - stubbly sinewiness, it sounds a compelling read.

I agree I think it all does have something to do with hankering after lost youth.

On the subject of Legolas - I have to offer this again, because you can't have too much of a good thing.

I can't yet be "old enough to be his mother" without breaking the law and laying myself open to some very ugly accusations, but I still make the best of the available age-gap...

It's great; at 16, you can only really seriously consider guys within about a three-year range - then as you grow up, the range broadens and broadens, until practically the entire male population is fair game.

Deanna said...

Thank you Olivia, I forgot to download it last time. Now it is safely ensconsed in my picture file, and I can look at it and enjoy it in every luscious detail.

I agree, now we have the entire male population to choose from, what a stimulating thought.

Great post! Not quite 'old enough to be his mother' yet but am completely with Olivia on this one. Am now at the age where 'the entire male population is fair game'. An inticing thought for a women in her sexual prime.
And as to your secret passion Deanna, who ever he might be?? Did you Mum never tell you it's only polite to share.

Sorry, feeling a bit hot and bothered after viewing picture left by Olivia and so have left post twice! Must concentrate harder in future.

Deanna said...

Yes, my mum did but as I have no siblings I've never been forced to do so before.

Maybe I'd share him with you, if you promise to behave, Alison!!

Oooh, a post close to my heart, as I'm working on my second BL novel 'Amanda's Young Men' right now.

Thanks for this post, Deanna, very enjoyable, eye candy and excerpt and observations all duly noted and...um...contemplated.

I once asked a young man I worked with if I was a 'MILF' (Alison, that's 'Mother I'd Like to Fuck.') He said yes. I asked why. He said , 'All that smudgy eye makeup.' HA! Let's hear it for the boy!

I confess to liking them a bit old and crusty, but I could make an exception for Isaac Mendez from "Heroes".

Naughty post, Deanna!

He's cute Janine, and I think Milo is not to be sniffed at either. I saw a picture of him shirtless the other day and he scrubs up very nicely. Muscular but not overly so.

Not that I'm averse to muscles as you know! Long live the 300!!!

I used to really like to write older women with younger guys. In Equal Opportunities Mary is 33 and David in 26. Not quite a generation gap - but still.

But I kind of like older men now. In The Silver Collar Iris and Alfie are the same age for plotty reasons - they were at college together - but Iris is 31 to her estranged husband Blake's 40. And that relationship is such fun to write. I wouldn't describe Blake as in anyway paternalistic though.

Even if I never mention them in the book I always like to figure out everyone's age in advance. And everyone's height. It always seems crucial who's taller than who.

Being 5'3" nearly all men look tall to me so I don't notice heights much in real life. Funnily, in fiction it's different. I've just written a hero I described as "of average height" and now I'm in agonies - he sounds really short! And surely my heroes can't be average in any way, can they?

Maybe I'll just give him a humungous dick.

Now, a threesome with Orlando Bloom and Johny Depp, I simply can't believe I never thought about that before. I certainly do now...

i have always adored younger men. this lust seems to grow more pronounced the older i get. i enjoy older men too, but the beauty of a young twenty something male, especially a writer or a guitar player, gosh. i go crazy. what's neat is that many younger men seem to enjoy women of my age. thanks for the post, the wonderful pics and your excerpt. i was titilated and inspired.

Think I need to age a bit more before I see the appeal of this. I don't mind looking at younger men but that's as far as it goes. Pretty, but can you have a conversation with them?

Deanna said...

It isn't a conversation I'm after as it happens!!!

You know what they say: "Good things come in small packages."

Hang on, we'd better adjust that cliché. How about "Small things come with good packages?" (Your character might not like the sound of "small things," though.)

yes-it started with 'Take That' moved along to Justin Timberlake and has settled on Orlando Bloom, although I find I can't look at any man who is younger than my oldest son-it seems wrong somehow!

I did have the um dubious pleasure of getting waved at and cheered by the entire weight training class at my kid's high school (all those athletes-yum)after my son let slip that I write erotic romance-apparently I'm cool because I write porn :)

It's also weird when kids you have known for years suddenly grow up and get all embarrassed around you when you inadvertently give them a glimpse of cleavage or something...

Not sure what you're talking about, Kate. Could you give us a visual? ; )

I don't think I ever mention my heroes' height, but I always assume they're tall. And my heroines usually are, but that's just because I am. (Not, however, the giantess that the Virgin party photo suggests I am, and now we all know I'm standing next to a cluster of homunculi) If I had either character short, I wouldn't be able to work out what matched up where in bed. I always wonder if particularly tall/short couples can still kiss during sex - or does his head end up about a foot further up the bed?

"Average" height - hmm. "Medium" might be less depressingly "average". Or you could make him short, or chunky, compact, diminutive, dumpy, dwarf, dwarfed, dwarfish, little, petite, pint-sized, pocket-sized*, runty, slight, small, squat, squatty, stocky, stubby, stunted, undersized, or wee.

With all those words at my fingertips (yes, I do think in alphabetical order) I should probably go off and write some dwarvish erotica. Casanundra, the world's second greatest lover...

Great post Deanna.

I am just hitting my lust for younger men phase. I'm 33 and the current object of my "afections" is twenty. Not old enough to be his mom....but still....

Thank you for the yummy pics - I LOVE Orlando....sigh.

Although, there's a lot to be said for older and experienced. When the guys at work found out that not only am I bi, but I write "erotica", suddenly I'm the catch of the day (despite the wedding band). I love where I work.

I did just come off a fling with a guy nine years younger than me. He was way to immature to even handle that.

Older? Younger? Really, I just don't know! Round about the same age works for me.

And while I can appreciate the vitality and sexiness of a young guy's body, I don't really fetishize generation gaps. Plus, the years are never equal. 30 and 40 year olds seem closer in age than 30 and 20 year olds. Well, they do to me. But hey, maybe it's my age.

Interesting post, Deanna!

I tend not to notice ages--I'm really bad at figuring out how old someone is, including myself. I especially don't notice it in men. Women, on the other hand... I'm much more likely to start ogling some young thing and then suddenly realize I could be her mother, and feel like a Dirty Old Woman.

And then I feel vaguely smug for getting to be a dirty old woman!

Great post Deanna, I always thought attraction to the younger man was based on sexual vitality and the human need to procreate. Who needs money and marriage when you can fuck like bunnies and just pretend to make babies.

I had always tried to steer away from being attracted to the younger man, but my efforts failed me. Years ago when I was in my 20's I swore off men in their 20's because they were always so shitty in bed, they just plain made lousy lovers as far as I was concerned. The older man offered more skill and prowess.
But as I came to my 40's I came to like to looking at those young abs and think of what I could do with that; I just want to lick it everywhere. Being more experienced and no longer shy about anything, it's arousing to think of what I could teach them, mold them into being the perfect lover.

I still look but don't touch, but what about talking to them (not just conversational talking either)? I struggled with that for awhile too. I would get IM's asking to chat, emails after they see my pic on myspace and ask if they could write to me. I always turned them down laughing that they could never fizzle my attention long enough to do anything for me. Then IMVU came along and gave me some visual stimulation to go with it and suddenly I found I was getting frustrated turning them down when they looked so yummy.

Yes I admit I crossed my own boundaries and now I have a small gaggle of young men literally kissing my shoes before they even say hello. I also must confess that the younger men of today are not as dull and one track minded as they used to be. I mean, yes they still want to get off, but they are more willing to take their time, make it interesting and be concerned about their partners needs. This generation seems to be so very different, they aren’t shy, they aren’t too self-conscious to ask for things or talk about things. Many are very articulate, intelligent and can write very creatively. Now and then I've chatted up a dull, brainless guy, but I end up dropping out of the room quickly from boredom and one sided conversation. I am there after all to be stimulated, my mind too, not just the rest of me.

Oh and Olivia,,, OMG I almost fell out of my chair when I saw that hot picture. I sat there mouth agape and tried to think of anything sexier and I was at a loss. TYTYTY, although Scott Elrod still makes me giggle like a little girl when I see him on "Men In Trees".
LOL my word verification is...
"ndmanz"
Does that mean they are all "in demands" or "any mans" game.

I have a crush on a much younger, adorable guy who rides the same city bus route that I do in the evenings. I'm often attracted to men in their early-to-mid-twenties who look kind of offbeat, geeky or nerdy, creative or exceptionally bright. Maybe it's because when I was that age, I was still in my much-older-man phase, so I missed out on all the males in my age range.

I agree with you, Deanna, that their energy is most attractive. I also like that youthful spirit of rebellion, that sincerity, the intensity, and the Sturm und Drang of their tender emotional lives.

And it's so deliciously tempting to think of introducing these creatures to pleasures they've only dreamed of (or watched on the Internet a thousand times).

I dunno, Dayle, I kinda like feeling like a dirty old woman . . . feels like I've finally accomplished something, somehow ;).

I'm so glad there are so many out there who think like me. I look, but haven't touched as yet although there;s still plenty of time.

Licking all over!! How delicious, I could just imagine doing that to my beautiful curly haired angel

There are titilating extracts of the 7 novellas posted throughout that blog, including one from mine, the title novella "Bound in Skin" - of which you will be hearing more when it is published...
